Beckwourth Crossing Nature Center

The Vision: The Beckwourth Crossing Nature Center is located on a knoll on north Grizzly Ranch Road near the Gate House on approximately 3 acres of undisturbed forest and grassland. A conceptual plan was developed for the property and Phase 1 of the project has been completed which includes a rustic fire pit, a seating area and native botanical gardens. Future improvements include picnic tables, a children's play area, educational interpretive signage, and a replica of the Jim Beckwourth Cabin to host educational activities and events. Major components include the Botanical Garden and the Beckwourth Cabin Nature Center.

At the present time, you can enjoy the outdoor fire pit to roast marshmallows or warm up on a cold evening with family and friends. The seating area around the fire pit boasts spectacular views of Beckwourth Peak.  A primitive trail meanders through the Botanical Gardens which was seeded with native grasses and forbs and extends from Blacktail Ridge to the Beckwourth Knoll connecting to other village destinations.
